Houston Christian High School (HCHS) is accepting applications for the position of Controller. The Controller, under the direction of the Director of Business Affairs, manages the accounting operations of the School including budgets, analysis, auditing, production of periodic financial reports including statutory reporting to state and federal agencies, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the school’s reported financial results and ensures that reported results comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This is a twelve month, exempt position, reporting to the Director of Business Affairs and is a member of the Business Office Team. Application information is below.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree required, MBA/CPA or related degree preferred.
Minimum five years of accounting experience. Experience with not-for-profit organizations preferred.
Experience with and firm understanding of current GAAP standards and accounting best practices, laws, and regulations.
Experience with Blackbaud Accounting Systems and FACTS Tuition Management preferred.
Proficiency in basic technology applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel). Google Apps knowledge is required (i.e. Google Drive, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Gmail).
Self-starting and able to multitask.
Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Critical thinking and ability to exercise excellent judgment in decision-making.
Excellent verbal, visual, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
