We are looking for an experienced, part-time Senior Tax Accountant in a client support role to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. Senior Tax Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful Senior Tax Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has also experience collaborating and/or managing a team of Staff Accountants and Junior Accountants. Senior Accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all assigned accounting tasks.
Responsibilities
Verify, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
Prepare error-free financial statements and produce budgets according to schedule
Analyze financial information and summarize financial results in presentation form
Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
Provide technical support and advice regarding client accounts
Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
Manage accountants and/or bookkeepers
Participate in setting financial standards and in the forecasting process
Provide input into department’s goal setting process
Take the lead in providing support with tax advisory & tax resolutions on returns
Plan, assign and review staff’s work
Support month-end and year-end close process
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Ensure compliance with GAAP and GASB principles
Requirements and skills
Proven experience as a Financial Controller, Accounting Supervisor, or Senior Accountant
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Awareness of business trends
Familiarity with financial accounting statements
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
Hands-on experience with accounting and payroll software packages, like QuickBooks and Gusto
Advanced MS Excel skills including V-lookups and pivot tables
Accuracy and attention to detail
Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant
Relevant certification (e.g., CMA, CPA, and/or EA) will be preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Performing basic accounting procedures, e.g. A/R, A/P, time billing, P/R, G/L, tax payments and inventory control
Processing payroll as part of client support
Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (e.g., balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements) and weekly forecasts to client accounts summarizing current and projected financial position
Month end and quarterly closing
Analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts and investment transactions for client management
Communicating with client customers to address any past due invoices on their account
Producing financial data for management team upon request and assisting with other special Accounting projects from time to time
Performing analysis of operations on a monthly basis
Ensuring all active projects are covered by valid, binding contracts

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred
2+ years progressive accounting experience in public accounting or similar work environment
Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as experience with accounting software and ABC general ledgers
Analytical skills with particular attention to detail
