This position would support the tax compliance functions of the Accounting Department and requires solid sales tax experience.
The ideal candidate would enjoy working in a closely held, private company, supporting management with worldwide sales and VAT tax compliance, including implementing processes to ensure compliance with international, federal, multistate, and local business tax filing requirements, registration and filing of sales and VAT tax reports, interfacing with taxing authorities or tax agents, researching issues, and assisting with tax audits.
Job Duties
Responsible for domestic and foreign sales tax / VAT compliance, research, registration, and report filing
Maintain and update internal tax and reporting systems to ensure accuracy of worldwide rates and thresholds
Ensure accuracy in tax filings and tax payments
Maintain company sales and VAT tax research documentation, databases, and spreadsheets
Research and correct process errors that may cause incorrect tax collection or filings
Research and recommend new tax reporting methods and software for better efficiency
Support Corporate Tax Accountant with income or other tax compliance, filing, documentation, and research
Assist with general business and governmental reporting and compliance as required
Perform other accounting tasks as needed
Candidate requirements
A bachelor's degree in accounting
Five or more years in sales tax compliance and filing
Exceptional analytical thinking and research abilities
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability to prioritize and multitask to meet tax filing deadlines
Ability to work independently
Preferred candidate requirements
Advanced working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets
Experience with various accounting and tax software platforms
