If so, the TxDOT Financial Management Division is looking for two Summer Interns on our Employee Payments and Accounts Receivable teams based in Austin, TX. Our Finance division is +200 employees strong and supports all of TxDOT's districts and division to promote fiscal responsibility, timely reports, compliant processes and accurate payments and distributions. The Employee Payments and Accounts Receivables Section of the Financial Management Division is seeking 2 summer interns in 2023. The Employee Payments and Accounts Receivables Section is comprised of two branches, Employee Payments (Employee Payroll and Travel Reimbursements) and Accounts Receivable (which handles the accounting for all amounts due to TxDOT from external entities, as well as cash balancing). The summer interns will assist in the review and processing of Travel documents, various Accounts Receivable invoices, collections analyses, contribute to financial reports and other Travel or Accounts Receivable related tasks. The interns will also perform document management duties for both branches in the section. Successful candidates will access PeopleSoft, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Office and possess a high level of knowledge of Excel and Outlook. The intern role is eligible for partial tele-work (per department’s needs) and a hybrid work schedule. Additional amenities at the Stassney location include covered employee parking, walking trails, on-site fitness center and coffee bar, and soon, on-site cafeteria.
Performs entry-level administrative or technical support work for the Employee Payments and Accounts Receivables Section of the Financial Management Division. Work involves performing a wide range of administrative, technical, and/or office support work for the department. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.
Develops spreadsheets, databases, and other electronic documents.
Gathers basic data and assists with routine analyses
Answers the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages, and/or serves as receptionist or front desk assistant.
Assists in maintaining confidential information and records.
Assists in processing routine documents such as vouchers, journal entries, reimbursement requests, etc.
Maintains files, records, and logs.
Makes copies and distributes as instructed.
Performs preliminary research on assignments and gathers pertinent data.
Performs routine word processing duties and conducts quality checks of documents created.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Education: Must be a student in high school or other educational institution or accepted into a college, university or educational institution.
Must be at least 17 years of age, a student in high school or an institution of higher education. Undergraduate/Graduate students are preferred.
Employees at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license may be assigned driving duties.
Transcripts must be provided before hire is completed
Education: Majoring in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Computer Science/Technology or related major.
