The Bank Compliance Department is charged with oversight and coordination of the Compliance program for the U.S Banks (Morgan Stanley Bank, N.A. and Morgan Stanley Private Bank, National Association). The Bank Compliance Mortgage Servicer Testing team seeks a key Mortgage Division Compliance Professional for its Monitoring & Testing (M&T) Program of residential mortgage loan servicing. Emphasis will be on the execution and on-going maintenance of a M&T Program for third parties performing mortgage loan servicing, loss mitigation or foreclosure functions. The position will interact with various corporate functions and at various levels across the Firm, as well as with employees and leaders of outsourced mortgage servicing providers, to improve processes, minimize risks, improve controls and create ongoing strategic value from vendor partnerships.
This role will require in office attendance 3 days/week.
Primary Responsibilities:
Execute the Firm's Monitoring and Testing Program of mortgage servicing providers to proactively identify and respond to potential compliance issues
Provide support in holding mortgage servicing providers accountable for performance and develop action plans for those not meeting performance standards
Perform on-site visits to mortgage servicers' facilities to conduct operational / compliance audits
Assist team in the oversight of external residential mortgage servicers
Review mortgage portfolios for compliance with contract terms, industry servicing standards, and federal and state regulations
Prepare and deliver governance reporting
Participate in risk assessment and planning processes
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree, 5+ years related experience, and a working knowledge of mortgage servicing processes
Some travel required
Knowledge of Federal and State laws impacting mortgage servicing such as RESPA, TILA, FCRA, FDCPA, and SCRA amongst others
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly articulate issues
Strong vendor-relations skills and ability to partner with vendors to develop practical solutions
Ability to prioritize work, effectively manage a large number of tasks at one time and interact effectively with management
Knowledge of mortgage servicing systems preferred
Ability to accurately and efficiently prepare and review work papers
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
Skills Desired:
JD, MBA, CPA, or CRCM preferred
Organizational skills to manage multiple projects and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Able to perform analysis and problem identification, determine solutions and work under specific deadlines
