Job Description
Opportunity to work for small and dynamic public accounting firm in Spring, TX as a staff accountant working in audit, tax, and accounting. We are seeking an energetic, detail-oriented individual with a full range of experience in accounting, tax preparation, business advisory to join our team. Our professionals serve a diverse clientele and qualified candidates will have moderate to complex knowledge of, audit, accounting, tax, and business management.
Responsibilities
Perform work judiciously and with a minimum of assistance. Must be able to analyze and prepare financial statements, disseminate information as needed, outline unusual situations and present findings to manager, or principal, and follow through with advice when presented. Maintain an understanding audit and tax regulations and business compliance, including payroll, and prepare individual, business, and non-profit tax returns. Prepare and complete audit work and financial reports for review by partner. Should evaluate, present evidence, and make decisions on all but the most unusual accounting and tax matters. Display professional conduct, showing confidence and ease in the presence of staff and client representatives.
Essential Functions
- Perform a broad range of accounting services including, but not limited to, financial statement services, payroll, tax planning and tax preparation, and various aspects of business advisory under the direction of the senior staff and principals
- Demonstrate an understanding of audit standards, procedures, and reporting
- Demonstrate an understanding of GAAP and GAAS
- Demonstrate commitment to competency in technical skill, work quality, efficiency, and application of professional and firm standards
- Prepare and complete reports, projects, work papers and duties as assigned or determined
- Provide full service and personal attention to all firm clients developing and maintaining long term relationships
- Participate in planning and scheduling client engagements
- Organize client data, analyze information, and prepare tax returns including forms 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S, 990, 941, 940
- Meet time constraints and deadlines
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
Licensed Certified Public Accountant (preferred), or C.P.A. Candidate
Enrolled Agent (in lieu of C.P.A.)
3 + years experience in public accounting, to include audit and/or tax experience
3 + years experience with bookkeeping software including but not limited to: Quickbooks, SAGE 50, and/or Xero
Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and financial reporting
Knowledge of tax regulation, and business compliance requirements
