JOB SUMMARY: Providing executive oversight and support for the financial functions of a region. Reporting to the SVP CFO, Hospitals and Clinics, the Regional CFO must provide excellent financial support to the Regional President and management team. CFO is responsible for the financial operations of the entire region (hospitals, clinics, and other entities), providing strategic leadership and management of the financial planning and budget processes. CFO ensures the integrity of monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, analyzes and interprets financial results, creates financial performance plans for the Divisional leadership team; President and BSWH approval, and implements and monitors performance to approved plans. CFO monitors and controls the assets and commitments of the region at the direction of BSWH. CFO manages the capital expenditure process and ensures adequate cash flow to meet the operating objectives of the region and BSWH. CFO works closely to coordinate the regions needs with BSWH service providers (Financial Services, Strategic Financial Planning & Analysis, Government Reimbursement, Compliance, Treasury, Tax, Internal Audit, Revenue Cycle, Payroll, Information Services, and Materials Management Services).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Lead monthly review of financial statements to ensure completeness, accuracy, and relevance; performs monthly financial statement analysis and communicates results from operations to the SVP CFO - Hospitals and Clinics, Regional President, Medical Staff, management team, and BSWH - Financially evaluate operations on an ongoing basis for adherence to predetermined operational goals and report to SVP CFO – Hospitals and Clinics CFO; Regional President and management team; develop and help administer operational improvement plans when appropriate - Lead regional strategic financial planning and budgeting processes to accomplish business unit goals established by BSWH; communicate and interact with SVP CFO-Hospitals and Clinics; Regional President, management team and BSWH to ensure approval of strategic financial plan and budgets; operationalizes budgets (budget spread, financial system upload, and reconcile to approved budget) - Review tax returns and government cost reports for the region with BSWH service providers; sign tax returns and cost reports - Responsible for integrity of regions internal control structure; coordinate with Internal Audit for interim audits and Financial Services for the annual external audit; report pertinent audit results and management letter points to the President and management team. - Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures within the region and ensure consistency with BSWH policies and procedures - Work closely with BSWH Revenue Cycle leaders and Treasurer to provide necessary information to optimize the regions and BSWHs revenue cycle performance and cash position; work with Debt department to ensure appropriate debt structure for the region and BSWH - Responsible for coordinating the procurement process with BSWH Materials Management; responsible for managing and tracking capital expenditures to the capital budget; responsible for providing the appropriate supporting analyses for capital decisions to BSWH and works with Capital Finance to understand appropriate financing vehicles - Lead and coordinate region's financial analytical services and projects - Act as a liaison for regulatory and compliance auditors to ensure the successful completion of periodic audits - Perform operational responsibilities including hire, train, and support key areas of direct responsibility; train and coach team members on financial matters; network and dialogue with middle and upper management regarding issues and concerns affecting efficiency, productivity, or morale as it relates to those areas of responsibility - Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: - Bachelor's Degree required; Master's degree preferred - CPA, CMA, CHFP, or FHFMA certification preferred - Seven years progressive experience in healthcare; including previous management experience required - Proficiency with MS Office applications; strong leadership, analytical and communication skills required - Mastery of GAAP and solid understanding of government reimbursement and tax regulations
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor’s Degree required. Master’s preferred. - 7+ years of experience
