The Controller oversees a robust financial management and reporting system that supports operational and regulatory compliance requirements.
Analyze and present financial and management reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
Automate business processes to streamline accounting functions
Oversee all financial, project/program and grant accounting
Lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with CFO; administer and review all financial plans and budgets
Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting
Lead accounting activities to ensure compliance with GAAP and integrity of GL balances with an effective internal control environment
Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors; communicate and present critical financial matters to senior leadership

Update and implement finance policies and accounting practices
Produce financial and statistical reports for management and Board of Directors
Participate in regulatory, compliance and financial audits; provide auditors with necessary reports

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required, MBA/CPA preferred
10 - 15 years of experience, must include 5 – 8 years of supervisory experience, strong leadership presence
Recruit and manage finance team. Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality. Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach. Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities and conduct annual performance appraisals.
Microsoft Office; strong Excel experience required
Proficient with accounting and reporting software
Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices; ability to translate financial concepts and effectively collaborate with programmatic and fundraising colleagues without finance backgrounds; ability to organize work and set priorities to meet deadlines; high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; ability to work with financial records in a confidential and professional manner
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Work in an office environment and, on occasion, may work in warehouse or at outdoor events
This position requires extended periods of sitting and extensive repetitive motion for data entry.
